Research Abstract

国境を越えた「タイ文化圏」に広く分布するパラウン族は文字を持っていない。こうした無文字民族の歴史を支配民族が書き残した文献資料からではなく、直接現地で収集した言語及び文化データに基づいて解明するため、パラウン及び周辺民族の現地調査を幅広く行った。その結果、パラウン各方言の言語音変化や借用語、文化的な特徴などから、同じ系統のパラウン、ワ、プランがサルウィン系及びメコン系諸民族との関係によって「民族」として分化してきたことが明らかになった。
