Research Abstract |
It was originally scheduled that we surveyed the village in Henan Province in 2005, but the permission of local authorities had not been obtained. We accordingly surveyed important documents and historical materials in the library and the archives in Beijing, Kaifeng, and Zhengzhou, and had meetings about the history and actual condition of Henan village in Henan University. In 2006 and 2007, we surveyed Shanxi-village under the cooperation of four co-researchers of Shanxi Normal University. Our research activities for the past 2 years are summarized below.(1)Surveying the village survey reports and local history materials at pre-war days of Linfen city in Shanxi and making research manuals for each participant. (2) Inviting three Chinese co-researchers and having a meeting about collaborated research project in Gaohedian of Linfen city for 9 days from the end of October, 2006. (3) Interviewing 100 villagers from December 15th to 28th in 2006, August 17th to 30th in 2007. (4) Collecting land ledgers and local history materials in the research center for Chinese social history in Shanxi University, holding meetings with researchers of local history. As a result, we had greater understanding of Gaohedian. The interview records were arranged after our fieldwork, and the collected historical materials was bound into a book. Each member reported on the topics of research, and the results and the problems of fieldwork were examined in the discussion meeting. In the meeting, we made the overall policy of publishing the village survey record and report.
