Research Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine and improve health, physical fitness and lifestyle on elementary and junior high school children living in school district of wide area. The schools were divided into three groups: group A was schools of big city in Kanto, group B was of middle city in hokkaido, group C was of the country in Hokkaido. The results were followings.
1. There were no significant differences in physical characteristics (body weight, standing height) among three groups. But body mass index (BMI) of children in Hokkadido was higher than in Kanto 2. Physical fitness of group A was more superior than group B and C. 3. By means of walking counter, children in big city walked over 15,000 steps a day, but in the country less than 10,000 steps a day. Most children and students of group B and C go to school by school bus or car, but those of group of A go to it on the train, bus and foot. 4. The time spent from home to school of group A was longer than group B and C. 5. Children in group A had good health and lifestyle, but in group B and C had not so good them. 6. Children in the country of Hokkaido were tended to be anemia. 7. Health, physical fitness and lifestyle of group B and C were improved by using of health quality control sheet (HQC-sheet).
