Research Abstract

Examination of desk and chair in classroom by measurement of EMG, motion analysis and consciousness investigation were executed for the university students and the junior high school students. The height was changed into three steps based on proper sizes calculated from subject's height of the JIS, lower size from it, and higher size from it. The movement of the change of the load value and the load distribution center of gravity were analyzed with a body pressure profile measuring system. The muscle activity degree was measured by using the surface electromyography, and the electrodes in the erector spinae muscle and the trapezius muscle were placed, and the muscle fatigue was examined by the analysis of RMS method.
When the higher desk and the chair were used from the number of proper sizes, the fatigue degree comparatively became small for the university students in the erector spinae muscle than other height, and a remarkable difference was not seen in the trapezius muscle. There were especially no differences on the erector spinae muscle and the trapezius muscle for the junior high school students. When the desk and the chair of the number of proper sizes were used, the movement of the load distribution center of gravity of the body was suppressed for the university students, and the body pressure of a bearing surface hucklebone periphery moved to the other side of a femoral region and pressure was dispersed when the higher desk and the chair were used. Many of junior high school students answered that the higher desk and the chair were appropriate. Many of subjects felt that they became tired when a lower sized desk and chair were used.
