| Research Abstract |
In this research, I have developed a simulation-based learning environment that provides a learner with appropriate tasks and assistance in accomplishing them according to the learning context. In the system, the knowledge about teaching material is described by using the 'graph of microworlds' (a framework for indexing multiple microworlds and the relations between them by their purpose of learning and tasks). Based on this description the system helps a learner transfer from a microworld to another. The usefulness of the system is also verified in a preliminary experiment.
Succeeding to the result of the previous year (the implementation of the basic functions and teaching material for the test), this year, I unified these modules and added a user interface to complete the prototype system. I also conducted an experiment that revealed that the system could propose appropriate microworld-transitions according to various learning contexts and generate the tasks to facilitate them automatically.
I used the computer and software to conduct the experiment and analyze the data, which were bought with the grant-in-aid of this year. In the development of the system, I originally planed to employ two graduate students as assistants but couldn't. Therefore, I developed all of the system by myself.
The results of this year have been published in two papers, four presentations in international conferences and four presentations in domestic workshops.
