Research Abstract |
Yamauchi (head investigator) and Hosoda have had a seminar two times a month, together with university students. In these seminars, the relations between medieval philosophy and medieval art are discussed. Research results : 1)Ayako Hosoda & Kazuko Watanabe (eds.), Encounters with Other Worlds, 2 vols. 894 p ages( 2vols.), Lithon 2006. In these voluminous books, Hosoda acted as a editor. These books contain 32 papers, which covers the East and the West, ancient,. medieval, modern adn contemporary periods. Hosoda wrote an article, which deal s with the Virtues of Hildegard of Bingen : Liber divinorum operum III 3. Yamauchi, also, wrote a paper on medieval ontology and forms of theorizing about other worlds. Besides these main research results, Hosoda wrote a paper on iconlogical study of baptism in early medieval periods. Yamauchi wrote a book, whose title is Philosophical Consideration on failure. In this book, many philoso phical probplem are taken up, and the problem of the relation between medieval philosophy and medieval art i s contained. In addition to this one, Yamauchi wrote an article, " Johannes Duns Scotus and Isalamic Philosophy-gene alogy of NATURA COMMUNIS". In this research, we studied many aspects of relogious picture which represent various philosophical ideas and religious thoughst.
