Research Abstract

(1) 「不定詞+でもは~ない. という表現形式において、四国方言内部に観察される言語変化を整理すると、退化・進化それぞれが認められ、地域的に相補分布を形成していることがほぼ明らかとなった。
(2) 「や」で短く言いおさめる感動表現は四国地方にさかんな詠嘆法であり、地域差が観察される。恐れ・憐欄・喜び・驚きについて調査した結果、恐れによく保たれていた。全般的には(1)との類似性が認められ、「や」詠嘆法は南予に音変化「~シャ」が讃岐地方に盛んである。
(3) (1)(2)いずれにも、退化から進化(新化)を経た活性化がある一方で、衰退から衰滅状況を呈する地域が含まれる。四国という、四県の単なる集合体ではなく、瀬戸内海と太平洋に囲まれ、内部に四国山地を擁する大きな言語帯の中に現れた言語動態の一端を解明できた。
