| Research Abstract |
The subject of the author's research is the book collection of the Takamatsu house of the Imperial family (hereafter referred to as the Prince Takamatsu Library), which refers to the Imperial Court Manuscripts and Printed Books of the Takamatsu House of the Imperial Family (Takamatsunomiya-ke Denrai Kinribon) held by the National Museum of Japanese History (NMJH).
A study of the Prince Takamatsu Library, with its complex history, is required in order to determine its relationship with the Imperial Library in its entirety as well as to distinguish it from the original library of the Takamatsu house. There is a need for an examination of the Prince Takamatsu Library that also takes into account the books from the original Arisugawa house library that were not inherited by the Takamatsu house.

f the Imperial Family', a collaborative research project conducted by NMJH from 2003 to 2008 and organized by NMJH's Professor Masayuki Yoshioka, and b) A Study of the Classics and Medieval and Early Modern Period Books from the Imperial Court-Mainly Books from the Takamatsu House of the Imperial Family, a coordinated research project by the National Institute for the Humanities conducted from 2005 to 2008 and organized by Professor Masayuki Yoshioka. Although these research projects are conducting research on the Prince Takamatsu Library from different perspectives, they incorporate the findings from both projects. Consequently, the findings of the author's research are reflected in the results of the latter project as reported in Research Bulletins 1 and 2 entitled A Study of the Classics and Medieval and Early Modern Period Books from the Imperial Court-Mainly Books from the Takamatsu House of the Imperial Family, published in March 2007 and March 2008, respectively.
