| Research Abstract |
For the purpose to consider how the Japanese labor law should be transformed in response to contemporary economic and social changes due to globalization of market economy, technological evolution and the structure of working population, we have been examining and analyzing the recent legislations and developing legal theories in Britain from the comparative law perspective, having a special regard to the purposes and meaning of individual legislations, their coverage and enforcement mechanism.
The outcome of this three years' collaborative research project is as follows :
Firstly, in the first year, taking in to account the existing literature, from the perspective of what significance the recent legislations and emerging legal theories have, we held the mini-symposium entitled -Changing Labor Relations and Contract of Employmenf in the UK in the 107^<th> Conference of the Japan Labor Law Association(See the four articles published in Journal of Labor Law, No.106(Japan Labor Law Association, 2005).
Secondly, we held study meeting several times every year and conducted an analysis on the present situations of British labor law (including our two investigators' reports on their field surveys in UK), examined the labor law theory of Professor H.Collins at London School of Economics who have presented the new paradigm, had a research meeting with Professor S.Deakin (Cambridge University) and published our research results obtained from these research activities (thirteen articles and one book).
Thirdly, we made a translation of H.Collins' book entitled'Employment Law'into Japanese and published it as a book entitled'H.Collins'Igirisu Koyo-Ho'(Seibun-do, 2008) and it was highly evaluated as significant work for the development of legal theory of Japanese labor law.
