Research Abstract |
This research is a proof study about supporting business of general trading company Mitsui Bussan. Though it was necessary for trading company's original business, the actual situation of supporting business has not been studied. In a theory about formation of general trading company, it is not appropriate that an argument has been performed in the state that does not confirm the actual situation of supporting business. So we supplemented the omission by this research. In other words we took up finance, foreign exchange, insurance, shipping, stevedore as supporting sections and elucidated the roles and results that they achieved for business firm activity. As Mitsui Bussan was a large-scale trading company which was managed multilaterally, each supporting section was large and supported activity of sales department, and, besides, supporting business itself extended to outside business and then they became independent sections. For example, they were Taisho Marine & Fire Insurance n insurance, Mitsui Senpaku in shipping, wharf firm in stevedore. We, so to speak, elucidated the reason that supporting duties internalized because they were large. On the other hand, in the financial department, we elucidated the fact that the financial department achieved fund-raising and distribution of fund among sales departments And in foreign exchange, we elucidated that Mitsui Bussan did business for oneself in it in early period of Meiji, but after a foreign exchange bank was established, it raised an exchange fund and managed a risk with changing exchange rate, while depending on foreign exchange bank.
