Research Abstract

これまでの内外の学習動機に関する発達研究から小学校中学年から高学年にかけて、また中学校への移行にともない下降するとする知見がある。加えて、「中1ギャップ」の言葉にあるように、学力、仲間関係など適応上の問題が急増することも知られている。しかし、これまでのデータではこうした知見の一般化可能性を担保していない。そこで、本研究では、各学年サンプルの等質性を確保し、しかも小学校から中学校への学校間移行を経るように複数回の継続的な調査を行った。これにより、明らかになった主なことは次の通りである。第一に、学習動機においては小学校中学年がピークであり、その後緩やかな下降傾向が見られたが、中学校になっても大きな下降はみられなかった。第二に、学校適応では小学校から中学校にかけて学級の居場所感と仲間関係では上昇傾向が見られた。こうしたことから、小学校から中学校への移行は比較的スムーズであり、「中1ギャップ」の妥当性に疑問を呈した。
