Research Abstract

Nonlinear coupled dynamic behavior of a space structure with liquid has been investigated theoretically and experimentally. Subdividing it into four subjects the problem has been treated.
1.Experimental studies on nonlinear dynamic behavior of space structure model with liquid contained tank :
Test model was composed of central capsule with 60mm or 100mm in diameter and 500 mm length flexible beams as solar panels. The test model was hanged up freely with two permanent magnets or with string with 2.4m long and was excited by electromagnetic force. Dynamic response of the test model was measured by using accelerometer.
2.Experimental studies on nonlinear dynamic behavior of liquid drop
Nonlinear dynamic behavior of a liquid drop on a vibrating plane has been conducted experimentally. The effects of liquid volume, contact angle etc. on the vibration characteristics has been clarified.
3.Experimental studies on nonlinear coupled dynamic behavior of a liquid drop attached with an elastic plate
Nonlinear dynamic behavior of a water drop on a vibrating elastic plate has been investigated experimentally. In general, by adding a drop the natural frequency of a plate degrease, but under a special case, it increases. In the experiment, sub-harmonic resonance response which is peculiar on non-linear system, has been observed.
4.Coupled frequency analysis of a cantilever plate with attached liquid drop.
Modeling a liquid drop as a non viscous liquid with hemi-spherical shape, linear eigen frequency analysis has been conducted.
