Research Abstract

Bond strength test of polymer cement mortar under static load with the parameter of chipping depth and the maximum size of coarse aggregate was conducted. Roughness of base concrete surface was evaluated using by the variations in surface area and the roughness parameter of JIS. The knowledge obtained from discussion of the effect of the roughness on tensile bond strength and shear bond strength were shown as follows;
・The surface by water jet method had approximately double the roughness of the surface by the shot blast method in the same chipping depth.
・The tensile and shear bond strengths could be estimated continuously as a criterion of roughness using JIS parameter.
・For the tensile bond, it was shown that the maximum bond strength is obtained at 1.1 of the arithmetic mean roughness and after that the bond strength become small.
・For the shear bond, it was seen that the bond strength increases as the roughness increases.
・The equations of tensile bond strength and shear bond strength with the effect of roughness of base concrete surface were proposed.
Furthermore the bond strength test under fatigue load as the parameter by the stress level was conducted for constructing the prediction model of fatigue life for peeling of under layer. When the Goodman type equation relating to stress amplitude and minimum stress was used for the prediction of fatigue life, the coefficient K on the equation became about 20 in both tensile bond stress and shear bond stress.
