Research Abstract

1. Application of ultrasonic wave is effective in order to disperse the nano/micron-sized diamond particles
2. Constant and reproducible results of codeposition amount of nanodiamond was achieved by the refinement process which was processed by the heat treatment in mixed acid.
3. To support the sample by an evaporated carbon thin film was suitable for microscopic observation of the plated films.
4. Complexing agents had significant effects on the co-deposition behavior of the nano-particles in electroless nickel plating. Especially, citrate was very effective on large amount co-deposition.
5. A highly hydrophilic surface of nanodiamond was made by the refinement process in mixed acid. It resulted in the large amount co-deposition.
6. The interaction between metal ion and a plated film was most important for the large amount co-deposition. It was realized by the presence of both the interactions, the interaction between a particle and a plated film, and the interaction between metal ion and a particle.
7. The role of the particle surface and the role of the plating frontier (surface) becomes much important in the composite plating of nanoparticles. The interactions among the particle surface, the plating frontier and the metal complex should be appropriately maintained in order to fabricate the nano-composite plated materials of large-amount-particle co-deposition. It is the essential of the successful nano-composite plating.
