Research Abstract |
γ/δT cells are mainly located in the liver and intestine. Over than half of the T-acute lymphoblastic leukemia cases show rearrangement of V δ1Jδ1and V δ 2J δ 1. It's reported that peripheral γ/δ T cell neoplasm rarely occurred and the primary tumors were mainly located in the liver and skin. The hepatic and cutaneousγ/δ T cell lymphomas were derived from V δ1Jδ 1 and V δ 2J δ 1 T cells, respectively. We tried to detect the distribution and the cell characteristics of γ/δ T cell lymphoma by the immunohistology and Southern blot analysis (SBA) of TCRJ δ and Cβ genes. 78 cases of peripheral T cell lymphoma except for ATL/L and cutaneous T cell lymphoma were examined. The primary sites of the lymphoma were as follows : liver and spleen (6 cases), intestine (7), nasal cavity (15), skin (20) and lymph node (30). By the SBA, only one cutaneous case showed rearrangement of V δ 1J δ 1/V δ 2D δ 3 in the 78 cases. The tumor cells were composed of TCR β F1-negative, γ/δ-positive, CD30-positive, CD4-positive anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL). Detailed examination was performed in the additional 21 cases of systemic ALCL and 8 cutaneous ALCL, among them systemic 8 cases and cutaneous 3 showed γ/δ T cell phenotype. By the SBA, rearrangement of TCR β gene was detected in each 4 cases of cutaneous and systemic ALCL, and no rearrangement of TCR δ gene was seen. From the findings, it was suggested that rearrangement of TCR δ gene was rarely present in the cases of phenotypic γ/δ T cell lymphoma as well as examined hepatosplenic and cutaneous T-cell cases. NK cell and Null cell lymphomas may include in the cases of phenotypic TCR β F1-negative or γ/δ T cell lymphomas.
