Research Abstract |
Recently, electronic medical record (EMR) has been rapidly used in many hospitals. But it has been developed not from the point of educational view but from support of medical care. The purposes of this study are to clarify the demerit of EMR from the point of postgraduate medical education and to develop compensatory educational methods. Surveys have been conducted for residents and attending physician of many hospitals. The results suggest some possibilities of losing medical education. Copying and pasting a sentence seems to be problematic. Electronic medical record has difficulty on sketching about physical examination and imaging. Using the EMR at different places is also problematic. It is important for residents to make a presentation without note. Reading radiological imaging at the conference is also important. Audit of discharge summary by attending physician is essential.
