Research Abstract |
In a pediatric clinic at K city in Osaka prefecture, 156 children aged 1-5 year old received 2 doses of an influenza vaccine, and of them 53 recipients were enrolled in this study. Of 53 vaccinees, 21 children suffered from influenza diagnosed by rapid test. Of 21 patients A or B type influenza viruses were isolated from 5 patients, respectively. Hemagglutination inhibition assay and microneutralisation assay of acute phase sera were performed against both vaccine strains and autologous viruses which were isolated from the patients. To vaccine strains all patients showed positive HI and NT and 9 out of 10 patients were over 40 HI and 8 out of 10 patients showed NT over 40, 2 were NT 20. On the contrary, to the autologous virus 4 patients showed HI titer over 40 and 4 patients were below 10. Only one patient showed NT titer of 20, and the others were below 10. These findings suggest that in the vaccinees the suffering from influenza would be more associated with NT titer rather than HI titer.
