Research Abstract

Purpose: Our studies aimed to evaluate the structures of micro vessels in tumor using monochromatic X-ray 3D-CT.
Materials and Methods: VX2 carcinomas were transplanted into the 50 auricles of rabbits, and randomize into 5 groups. To the first group, 12 hours after transplantation, we injected Ba-gelatine mixed emulsion into the auricular artery by hands. In the same way, to the second group we injected Ba-gelatine mixed emulsion 24 hours after injection, to the third 48 hours, to the fourth 72 hours, to the fifth after 7 days. First of all, we take two dimensional projections of the auricles using monochromatic x-ray, and select several auricles, had moderately consistency of vessels. Subsequently, 4 auricle were taken 3D-CT images. One is taken images in 3 different parameters to decide the adequate parameters. And, other 3 were take different period after injection to decide the adequate period after injection. Image analysis was done with Image-Pro Plus, TRI-3D VOL, and visually.
Results: Because of a great number of images, reconstruction of images has not finished. So numerical analysis has not been archived. In visually, the images, in 5.83 um/pixel is obviously clear rather than in 12 um/pixel. There is no differentiation between the image by 20KeV and by 36KeV. And most adequate period to evaluate the vessels seems to be 72 hours after transplantation.
Conclusion: The monochromatic X-ray 3D-CT system was a useful tool to evaluate the tumor microvessels. But to take images and to reconstruction images needs too much time.
After this, we are going to analyze the images immediately.
