Research Abstract |
Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is one of the leading causes of death. Diagnostic markers are required for choices of appropriate treatment. In this study, we examined WT1 expression levels in clinical specimens of non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLCs) and estimated the correlation between the WT1 gene expression levels and clinical statuses. WT1 expression levels of 50 NSCLCs (18 squamous cell carcinoma (SQ), 32 adenocarcinoma (AD)) were examined using quantitative real-time RT-PCR. A correlation between WT1 expression levels and clinical statuses was analyzed by statistical procedures. A wide range of WT1 expression levels was detected in NSCLSs by a quantitative real-time RT-PCR. A significant correlation between the WT1 expression and clinical status was revealed in SQ and AD. SQ patients expressed the WT1 were significantly nonmetastatic to lymph nodes (P=0.038).
