Research Abstract |
1) A landscape-database on GIS system, "Fukui Landscape Library", has been created by this project. The stored data include old images of town landscape drawn on "Fukui-Kenka-Shoukou-Binran" (1889), etc. Current landscape images of the same spots were also collected and stored in it. At present, this "Library" database is not yet fully opened for public use, but being utilized only inside Geography laboratory of Fukui University. 2) Data stored in the "Library" have been utilized for university lectures and particular geographical researches in fields of historical geography of Japan and South/Central Asia. Actual lectures were also shot in videos and restored in the "Library". 3) Reports of geographical research done by members are being edited and published in a n issue of a journal, "Area Study and Geography Education", published by GAFP (Geographers' Association of Fukui Prefecture). This issue is planned to be appeared in May, 2008. 4) Collection of geographic materials on Fukui prefecture and South/Central Asia, which are in due course to be stored in the "Library".
