準安定相の生成・分解を利用したNd-Fe-Bナノコンポジット磁石の創成

Research Abstract

現在,最も強い永久磁石はNd-Fe-B磁石で,コンピュータのボイスコイルモーターや医療機器のMRI,電気自動車モータなどに幅広く使用されている.しかし,近年の省エネルギー化や,CO_2排出量削減,電気製品の高性能化,小型化などのニーズから,より強い磁性材料の開発が求められる.次世代高性能磁石として,異方性ナノコンポジット磁石が注目されている.この磁石では,ハード磁気特性を持つNd_2Fe_<14>B相とソフト磁気特性を持つFe相のナノ複合組織に交換相互作用が働くことにより,1MJ/m^3を超える高い(BH)_<MAX>を有することが予想されている.異方性ナノコンポジット磁石の原料となりうる化合物として,無容器過冷凝固によって,Nd_2Fe_<17>B_x準安定相(x〜1)が発見された.この準安定相は固相分解反応によって,ナノサイズのNd_2Fe_<14>B相と,Fe相の複合組織に変態することがわかっている.この準安定相の固相分解を制御することで,従来は達成できていない,高性能異方性ナノコンポジット磁石が開発できると考えられる.本研究ではNd-Dy-Fe-B合金をドロップチューブ法により準安定過冷凝固させ,Dy置換が準安定相の生成,粗大な初晶Fe相の抑制,準安定相の分解温度に及ぼす影響について調べた.
実験試料の基本組成として,Nd_<10>Fe_<85>B_5合金およびNd_<14>Fe_<79>B_7合金を用い,これらのNdのうち,原子量で10%,20%,30%をDyで置換した.これらの合金は,26mドロップチューブ上部の石英ノズル中に入れ,高周波溶解した後,ヘリウムガス中を自由落下させた.得られた合金は,X線回折(XRD)を用いて相同定をおこない,示差熱分析(DTA)を用いて熱的安定性を調べた.
現在までに以下の結論を得ている.
1.Nd_<10>Fe_<85>B_5合金のNdのをDyで置換した場合,置換量が20%までは,準安定相の生成能と,初晶Fe相の成長が抑制された.
2.置換量が30%を超えると,準安定相の生成能とが減少し,Fe_3RE相が生成する.
3.Dy置換した準安定相は,1140KでRE_2Fe_<14>BとFeに分解する.
4,Dy置換によって,準安定相の分解温度が上昇する.
