海水中の溶存態・コロイド態・粒子態微量金属元素の存在量と生物利用性に関する研究

Research Abstract

海水中の微量金属元素は、その存在量だけでなく存在状態も植物プランクトンの成育に大きな影響を与える可能性が指摘されている。そこで、本研究では、海水中の微量金属元素を溶存態、コロイド態、粒子態に分けて測定し、その分布と循環過程を明らかにすることを目的とした。
本年度はまず、中空糸膜フィルターを用いたサイズ分画法により、大槌湾流入河川水を濾過し、コロイド粒子を除いた溶存態のアルミニウムを測定した。この結果、アルミニウムのような汚染を受けやすい微量金属元素についてもこのサイズ分画法を適用できることが示された。また、日本海、オホーツク海において、コロイド粒子を除いた溶存態(<0.03μm)のアルミニウム、インジウム、セリウムの鉛直分布を明らかにした。アルミニウム、インジウムともに除去型の鉛直分布を示すが、アルミニウムの方が、水塊毎に大きく異なる濃度を示すという特徴を持っていた。In/Al比を、スールー海や南シナ海などと比較すると、日本海、オホーツク海ではむしろ西部太平洋に近い特徴を示した。これまで黄砂など、大気からの粘土鉱物の降下とその溶解過程がIn/Al比を支配する要因の一つとして考えられていたが、本研究の結果はむしろ、海水中での除去過程や堆積物からの溶出過程が大きな役割を果たしている可能性を示唆している。さらにオホーツク海・スールー海において溶存態・コロイド態・粒子態のアルミニウムの鉛直分布を明らかにした。コロイド態アルミニウムは、オホーツク海では比較的多く存在したが、スールー海ではごく微量しか存在しなかった。水温や水塊の安定性といった物理的環境を含む様々な要因が分布に影響していると考えられる。今後、他の微量金属元素の存在状態と比較することにより、その要因を解明していく予定である。
