Research Abstract

本研究課題の目的は、異なる機能性高分子セグメントを持つブロック共重合体を用いて、我々が新規に開発した微粒子作製法(高分子の溶液に貧溶媒を加え、良溶媒を蒸発させる手法)を用いることでウィルス状の表面構造を持ったブロック共重合体微粒子の作製とその構造制御手法を確立することにある。
今年度はブロック共重合体微粒子内に形成される相分離構造の熱的・空間的な制御を行った。一軸方向にラメラ構造を形成したポリ(スチレン-b-イソプレン)(PS-b-PI)微粒子をアニーリングすることで、高い温度でアニーリングを行うと層構造が崩れる事を見いだした。一方、常温よりやや高い程度の温度で長時間PS-b-PI微粒子のアニーリングを行うことで、一軸配向ラメラが同心球(タマネギ状)の相分離構造に変化することを見いだした。さらに、層構造を持たない微粒子をアニーリングすると、小さい粒径の粒子から、次第に一軸ラメラ→同心球へと転移していく様子が観察された。
一方粒子のサイズや分子量も相分離構造に影響を与えることがシュミレーションの結果等から報告されている。このような効果をconfinementと呼ぶ。そこで本研究では、実験的に粒子のサイズと分子量の比率を様々に変化させ、実験的にconfinementの効果を検討した。その結果粒径が小さく、ポリマーの分子量が大きい場合に、通常の相図では見られない、特異な構造が形成されることを見いだした。
以上の成果から、論文を3報報告した。
さらに、不揮発性で液体の塩であるイオン液体を用いることで、高沸点の水溶液からも微粒子が形成できることを見いだし、その成果を特許として申請した。
