Research Abstract

本年度は大きくわけて以下にあげる3つの成果をあげた.
(1)スピン1重項基底状態をもつ(CuCl)LaNb207粉末試料を用いた磁場中での比熱測定,NMR測定,磁化測定を行ったところ,10T付近で磁場誘起磁気相転移を観測した.この磁場は,零磁場のスピンギャップから期待される臨界磁場よりも遥かに小さい.スピン1重項基底状態にたいする磁場誘起磁気相転移現象は,マグノンのボーズ凝縮としてとらえることができることから近年多くの物質によって研究がなされているが,本物質のボーズ凝縮は単純な1マグノンの凝縮では説明できず,新しいタイプの凝縮状態,あるいは凝縮にいたるメカニズムが存在することを示唆している.
(2)(CuBr)Sr2Nb3010は,磁気層間距離が16Åもあり,(CuCl)LaNb207より二次元性が大きいと期待できる.この物質において,低温で磁化測定を行ったところ,飽和磁化の1/3にプラトーを観測した.本系のようにS=1/2の量子スピン系においてこのような磁化の量子化がおこることは大変珍しい.しかも,1/3プラトーは,三角格子やカゴメ格子のように三角形を基調とした格子においては理論的にも実験的にも観測されている現象であるが,本物質の格子は四角形を基調とした格子であるのが特徴である.
(3)中性子回折,比熱,μSR測定によって,(CuCl)LaNb207の同構造である(CuCl)LaTa207において磁気秩序を観測した.さらにこの二つの物質の全率固溶系の合成に成功し,磁性測定を行ったところ,磁気秩序状態と磁気無秩序状態が共存する現象を発見した.この共存現象は本物質系が量子臨界点近傍に位置していることと関連がある.
