中空フォトニック結晶ファイバを用いた、光子の量子位相ゲートに関する研究

Research Abstract

光子の量子位相ゲートとは、制御光の光子数に応じて、信号光(信号光子)の位相が変化する素子である。その実現は、光子を用いた量子コンピュータや、量子 暗号の高機能化にとり大変重要である。我々は当初、中空フォトニック結晶ファイバに導入された二準位系(アルカリ原子や量子ドット)を系として想定した。しかし、H18年度に、数百ナノメートルオーダーにまで引き延ばしたナノ光ファイバによってもフォトニック結晶ファイバと同程度のエバネッセント光強度が得られることが分かった。ナノ光ファイバは、強いエバネッセント場が外部に露出しているため、二順位系の導入が極めて容易になる。
今年度、我々は直径400nmのナノ光ファイバの実現に取り組んだ。結果として、高い透過率(90%以上)と、偏光解消がない、直径480nmのナノ光ファイバを実現した。さらに、実現したナノ光ファイバと微小球共振器を結合させ、ストークスパラメータスペクトルを取得、それより、微小球とナノ光ファイバの共鳴による位相シフトスペクトルの取得に成功した。また、そのスペクトルから、ナノ光ファイバと微小球共振器がオーバーカップリング条件下にあることを実験的に確認、外側への光しみだしが大きいことを実証した。また光子の位相シフト評価技術に関し、非常に安定な2光子量子干渉計を構築し、それを用いた回折限界以下の量子干渉縞の観測に初めて成功(0pt. Exp., 2007)、さらに4光子量子干渉計により、標準量子限界を超えた位相測定感度を実現(Science, 2007)した。また、ナノ光ファイバと結合した微小球共振器中にドープしたエルビウムイオンの位置を制御することで、光結合係数の制御に成功(Appl. Phys. Lett., 2008)した。
