Research Abstract

数10mT〜100mT程度の交流磁界下で交流電流を輸送する銀シース超電導線材における全交流損失の大部分を占める外部磁界に対する損失(磁化損失)の低減に向けて,超電導芯間に高抵抗バリア層を導入した線材の性能向上に関する研究を行った。前年度より検討してきたCa_2CuO_3+Bi_2Sr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_X(Bi2212)混合バリア材の他に,Al_2O_3およびSrZrO_3をバリア材とした線材を新たに作製し,バリア材の違いによるビスマス(Bi2223)系超電導体の生成率,線材加工性,通電特性およびに芯間横断抵抗といった基礎特性におよぼす影響を系統的に調査した。Al_2O_3バリア線材では芯間横断抵抗はバリアなし線材と比較して一桁以上向上したが,超電導相の生成率が他のバリア線材と比較して著しく低く,77K・自己磁界下における臨界電流密度(J_c)は最大11kA/cm^2とバリアなし線材(J_c=20kA/cm^2)の6割程度の値しか得られなかった。SrZrO_3バリア線材では,短尺線ではJ_c=15kA/cm^2と特性劣化は2〜3割程度の範囲であったが,SrZrO_3の延性が悪く超電導芯の平坦性が大きく劣化してしまい,長尺化した際には短尺線と同レベルの特性が得られなかった。Ca_2CuO_3+Bi2212混合バリア材は横断抵抗の向上は6倍程度と更なる改善の必要はあるが,超電導相生成への影響が少なく加工性も良好であることを反映して,短尺線でJ_c=18kA/cm^2,数m長の全域の特性でも15kA/cm^2と最も優れた通電特性を示した。実用に向けて,超電導芯に撚り(ツイスト)を施した試作バリア線材において,振幅10〜50mTの平行横磁界下においてCa_2CuO_3+Bi2212混合バリアを用いた場合に1/2〜1/3程度,SrZrO_3バリアを用いた場合に1/3〜1/4程度の磁化損失の低減を確認した。
