Research Abstract

本研究では、ハーフメタル強磁性体として注目されているコバルト系ホイスラー合金と、カーボンナノチューブを組み合わせることにより、優れた空間分解能を有するスピン検出プローブを創出することを目的とした。またこのプローブは、微小物質に対し高効率な電子スピン注入を行なうことの出来るスピン注入素子としても利用できるため、近年盛んに研究されているスピントロニクス分野での応用が期待されるものである。
これまでの研究で、コバルト系ホイスラー合金が酸化マグネシウム基板上に単結晶成長し、かつ結晶構造が理想的なL21構造になる条件が見出されている。これを踏まえ本年度は
1.コバルト系ホイスラー合金のハーフメタル特性を、物性と結晶構造との関連から明らかにする。2.コバルト系ホイスラー合金を強磁性電極に、また酸化マグネシウムを絶縁障壁層に用いた単結晶強磁性トンネル接合を作製し、高いスピン偏極率による高トンネル磁気抵抗効果を実証すること。3.カーボンナノチューブにコバルト系ホイスラー合金電極を接合しその伝導特性を調べること。をおこなった。
その結果、合金組成が正確にCo2XYという比率に近づくにつれて大きな自発磁化を持つことを確認し、また結晶構造がL21に近づくほどその特性がさらに強まることも確認した。強磁性トンネル接合では、室温で100%に及ぶ高いトンネル磁気抵抗比を得ることにも成功した。これらの成果により論文雑誌発表21件、国際会議発表16件(うち招待講演3件)、国内学会発表22件を行なうことができた。
