Outline of Annual Research Achievements

高いQ値を持ったリング共振器を複数カスケード接続した波長フィルターの研究を進めた。熱光学効果でピーク波長を制御することで、3つのリング共振器をカスケードした波長フィルター動作に初めて成功した。また、サイズの異なるリング共振器を組み合わせたバーニア効果を用いることで、透過波長を広範囲にわたってチューニングすることにも成功した。更なるセンシング感度の向上を目指して、リング共振器アレイを用いた結合共振器誘起透明化効果の研究を進めた。熱光学効果により共振波長を制御することで、Ge導波路で初めて結合共振器誘起透明化効果の観測に成功した。これらの共振器構造を用いることでガスセンシング感度の向上が実現できるものと期待される。
また水素吸着による発熱反応を用いたガスセンシングに関する研究も進めた。酸化タングステンを成膜するのに適した素子設計を進め、高いQ値を維持したまま酸化タングステンの成膜をすることに成功した。この結果、ゲルマニウム光導波路を用いて水素ガスを検出することに初めて成功した。
光ファイバーから光回路に信号を入力するためのグレーティンカプラに関する研究も進めた。従来のグレーティングカプラは結合波長が固定されてしまい、波長動作範囲が狭い問題があった。本研究員との共同研究で、MEMS技術を組み合わせてグレーティングカプラの回折格子部分を機械的に上下させて波長チューニングする機構を初めて実証することに成功した。
