Outline of Annual Research Achievements

北海道の主要造林樹種であるカラマツは成長が早く、コンテナ苗の開発が有望視されている樹種である。カラマツでは外生菌根の接種による成長促進が報告されているが、コンテナ苗への外生菌の導入、ならびに外生菌根による水分動態、養分動態に関する生理的知見はほとんどないのが現状である。
本研究では、外生菌根の有無がカラマツコンテナ苗の乾燥ストレス耐性へ与える影響を解明するため、外生菌を接種するとともに施肥強度を変えて育成したカラマツコンテナ苗を対象として、移植後の乾燥ストレスに対する反応を光合成、成長量、地上部地下部への炭素分配の変化から調べた。十分施肥処理は200 ml容量のポット当たり300 ㎎Nとしたが、貧栄養処理は75 ㎎Nとした。潅水処理として週に2回140 mlの水を与えた。10月に生育したコンテナ苗を4L 容量のプラスチックポットに移植し、乾燥処理を開始した。乾燥処理として週に1回、50 mlの灌水を行った。対照として、週に1回500 mlの十分な灌水を行う処理区を設けた。貧栄養条件で生育したカラマツコンテナ苗では、十分な栄養条件で生育した個体と比べて乾燥処理による光合成の低下が遅くなった。乾燥処理をかけた苗木では光合成速度は対照区の3分の1程度に低下した。一方で、施肥を十分に行った条件で、十分に灌水を行った場合、外生菌を接種した苗木は他の処理区(十分施肥+外生菌無接種、貧栄養+外生菌接種、貧栄養+外生菌無接種)と比べて光合成速度が約30%高くなることが明らかとなった。また、栄養条件がよい場合には、外生菌の接種が乾燥下での光合成に有利に働くことが明らかとなった。
本研究によって得られたこれらの科学的知見は、北海道の再造林ならびに荒廃地緑化のためのコンテナ苗の育成に貢献すると考えられる。
