Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では40年来の核子構造物理の謎であるシングルスピン非対称(SSA)の問題に取り組んだ。SSAは進行方向と垂直方向にスピン偏極した陽子と無偏極のターゲットが衝突した際に、生成粒子の断面積がスピンの軸に対して左右非対称になる現象である。SSAは初観測以降、数多くの研究がなされ、現在も実験が続いている。本研究では以下の3つの課題に取り組み、成果を得た。
(1) 陽子原子核(pA)周辺衝突におけるSSA:SSAを生成する機構の理解のため、pA周辺衝突においてSSAを正しく計算する公式を導いた。さらにそれに基づいて2014年にKanazawaらが提案した機構(ツイスト3の破砕関数)の検証を行い、陽子陽子(pp)衝突での主要チャネルがpA周辺衝突では効かず、パイ中間子のSSAの符号が逆転することを示した。これはRHICで検証可能であり、実験が待たれる。
(2) 陽子原子核前方散乱におけるSSA:数年前にRHICのSTARとPHENIX実験は原子核を標的としたSSAにおいて、一見相反する原子核の質量数A(陽子数と中性子数の和)依存性を示した。本研究では原子核をグルオン飽和の効果を取り入れたカラーグラス凝縮として取り扱った公式の数値的な評価を行い、STARと無矛盾なAによらないSSAを得た。前方ではPHENIXで見られた強いA依存性は見られないはずであることを指摘し、実験家の再測定への興味を引き出している。
(3)新しいSSAの機構の発見:摂動の2ループで初めて現れ、ツイスト2の部分を持つg_T構造関数を含むSSAの新しい寄与を見つけ、深非弾性散乱での軽いハドロン生成の場合を例にとって調べた。この寄与はこれまで知られていたツイスト3の構造関数、破砕関数を用いる寄与とは一線を画し、将来のElectron-Ion Collider実験に向けた非常に重要な結果である。
