Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The purpose of the research is to identify and propose good practices, including gender-responsive approaches, to enhance education for sustainable production and consumption. The specific study subject is Education for Sustainable Consumption (ESC) and waste education. In the FY2019, resulting from a global survey launched in the FY2018, the fellow summarised the information and presented it in an international conference on sustainable development. The results also prompted the improvement of the developed conceptual framework to a practical framework. The planned field trip to conduct a case study in Mozambique was not completed due to resource and time limitations. Nevertheless, the fellow participated in a gender summit meeting, where it was possible to watch presentations, interview and exchange information with experts on gender issues. From that summit, the further inputs to the framework were added, and the improved framework will be reported in a future publication. Furthermore, on the topic of the circular economy, the fellow engaged in a systematic review study on the regional perspectives in the Anthropocene era and presented the results in a conference in an international conference Nagasaki. A manuscript for submission in a peer-review publication is under preparation. Lastly, the fellow will also finalise the work started in the FY2018 on the performance of governance mechanisms of the Regional Centers of Expertise (RCEs) from the UNU-IAS.
