Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Synthesis of chiral binaphthyl porphyrin dimers for guest binding was completed and the work has been published. The compounds were found to be multichannel sensors for enantiomeric excess of chiral compounds. Related work on resorcinarene macrocycles has been completed and published. Those compounds were found useful for sensing acidity and for generation of singlet oxygen. Further allied work on the novel catalytic properties of the compounds has been completed and published. Other work is ongoing in collaboration with Dr. Payne.
