Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We developed a numerical model of gastric flow using computational fluid dynamics, medical imaging, and electrophysiology. We showed that impaired coordination between antral contraction and pyloric closure can result in delayed gastric emptying and bile reflux. We also found that slow wave velocity changed with interstitial cells of Cajal loss and aging, resulting in changes in emptying rate.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
