Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The effects of chronic exercise on glomerular sclerosis and renal interstitial fibrosis and its mechanism were investigated in chronic kidney disease models. In chronic renal failure rats with 5/6 nephrectomy, decreased renal collagen production, accelerated collagen degradation, and improved renal renin-angiotensin system were revealed. In high fructose-fed rats, improvement of renal fatty acid metabolism and mitochondrial function was revealed. High fructose intake increased blood pressure, glomerular filtration, and renal damage with stimulated renal renin-angiotensin system in Dahl salt-sensitive rats, and chronic exercise was shown to be as effective as renin-angiotensin system inhibitors.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
