| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In order to provide more evidence-based practice to children living in child welfare facilities and children who have been abused, we have been working to develop Japanese versions of three assessment techniques that can be used by Japanese practitioners. HOME (Home Observation for Measurement of the Environment) for child welfare facilities, MCAST (Manchester Child Attachment Story Task), a technique for assessing attachment, and techniques for assessing cognitive development. After conducting comparative research on cognitive character of children under out-of-home care and children at home, we conducted two projects. One is the HOME project with child welfare institutions in Kobe to use it as an intervention tool and as an useful technique for training practitioners. The other is the MCAST project, where practitioners were trained to be registered as its raters and MCAST was conducted for psychotherapeutic cases at Center for Child Abuse Prevention in Tokyo.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究が導入を試みたHOMEおよびMCASTは、子どもの養育環境およびアタッチメント形成の質を実証研究に基づく基準によって評価する方法である。厚生労働省が提示した「新しい社会的養育ビジョン」が求める「家庭的養育」の検討に今後用いることができる。得られた結果は、児童福祉施設における養育環境を、子ども一人一人に個別に実現することの重要性を示すものであり、今後の実践に生かすことができる。MCASTは子どものアタッチメントの質を精密に理解することで、養育および治療に活用することができる。いずれにおいても実践家を含む研究会を組織して進めてきたため、今後の実践の展開の足場を築くことができた。
