| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In order for Japanese learners to acquire natural Japanese pronunciation, prosody education about accents and intonation is important in the early stages of learning. In this research project, in order to better understand the typical problems of phonetic interference from a learner's mother tongue, we collected prosody data from Japanese learners, mainly from the learners who have never been in Japan. We then constructed a data archive on WEB. We also conducted research about instruction and teaching materials for Japanese prosody and verified their effects in domestic and overseas educational settings. Finally, we developed and improved web-based prosody learning support tools on internet.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
近年、海外で日本語を外国語として学ぶ学習者数は年々増大し、およそ385万人の学習者が国内外におり、「自然な発音」を身につけたいと望んでいる。国内においても外国人が日本語を使ってコミュニケーションをする機会が飛躍的に増えつつある中、日本語学習者が自然で伝わりやすい音声を身につけられるよう、効果的な音声指導法を研究・確立・普及し、音声教育教材・学習支援ツールの開発を行なっていくことは、重要な課題であり、急務であると言える。本研究は、１９８９～1996年頃、鮎澤他によって行われた日本語韻律の習得研究を、インターネット、ICTが一般化した現在の手法をによって見直し、教育研究に生かすことを目的とする。
