This research has been intended to explore the implications of the recent phenomenon of “partnership peace operations”, the collaboration between the United Nations and regional and sub-regional organizations in the field of peace operations. While providing the overall picture of partnership peace operations in the contemporary world, this research has shown that the phenomenon is a reflection of recent trends of international peace operations. The research also illustrated that the phenomenon is not a deviation from international order, but a development of the international security system envisaged in the Charter of the United Nations. The research selected Africa as a main focus area as it is the region where partnership peace operations are most active.
