Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this study is to develop a learning practice program for linguistically and culturally diverse children with roots overseas that will give them hope and lead to their future development. As a developmental support activity to enrich self-expressive activities by incorporating performance arts such as theater, this study conducted workshops as an intervention study in collaboration with learning support practice communities for linguistically and culturally diverse Japanese children with overseas roots in Japan and overseas. In addition, a theoretical study group was organized and discussed to deepen understanding of the relevant field and art. In addition, we were able to develop new research methods, such as conducting workshops online.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

日本では言語的文化的に多様性をもつ子ども達に対する学習支援は依然学校が中心であり、方針もまだ十分定まっていない。北米を中心に行われている自己表現活動研究は個人の内的変化を問うが、本研究は個人だけでなく、仲間や指導者と共にある学習コミュニティをも視野に入れている点が新しい。さらに造形、演劇などのパフォーマンス・アートを用いた自己表現活動を組織することに重点を置いた発達支援実践の構築と理論化は日本には類例がない。本研究では、自分を他者に向けて表現できることが生活適応や教科学習を支える基盤意識の形成に重要であると考え、新たな学習支援理論の構築を目指した。
