Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, we attempted to detect tick-borne pathogens from ticks in Kenya. RT-PCR results showed that Orthonairovirus specific bands were detected from Amblyomma and Rhipicephalus spp. Further analyses were not performed due to the influence of COVID-19, but we could establish a research base for investigation of tick-borne diseases in Kenya.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
マダニは、ヒトや動物に様々な病原体を媒介し、日本では日本紅斑熱や重症熱性血小板減少症候群など致死性の感染症がよく知られている。一方、アフリカにもマダニ媒介感染症の発生はあるが、どのような病原体が存在しているかについては不明な点が多い。本研究は、ケニアにおいてマダニ媒介病原体の実態を調べる研究で、現地での感染症の予防に有用な情報を提供する意義が大きい。
