Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は地上および上部電離圏、内部磁気圏において観測された磁場振動の発生要素を分解し、それぞれの地点における寄与度を定量的に明らかにすることであった。しかし、近年打ち上げられたあらせ衛星や新たに磁場データが利用出来るようになったみちびき衛星のデータにより、大規模な磁場変動を引き起こす現象のその元となる電流の構造および、粒子分布との関係性についても内部磁気圏の緯度方向に幅広い領域において調査することが出来るようになり、対象を磁場振動現象に限らず解析を行ってきた。
本年度は、前年度から引き続き内部磁気圏における背景のプラズマパラメタと大規模な磁場変動の元となる圧力励起電流の平均の子午面分布をあらせ衛星を用いて明らかにした。この結果から緯度方向依存は磁気嵐の時間発展の解釈に影響を与えうることが示された。研究内容は論文としてまとめられ、JGR誌に出版された。
また、赤道から離れた静止軌道高度の磁気圏に位置するみちびき衛星の磁場データを用いて、中緯度磁気圏におけるオーロラ嵐時の磁場変動の特徴からその磁場変動の原因となる電流の構造・時間発展を調べた。まず、赤道から離れたみちびき衛星を含めて複数の衛星がほぼ同一子午面上にあるようなイベントを解析し、赤道付近の衛星に比べみちびき衛星では15分程度と大幅におくれて鋭い東西磁場変動が開始することが解った。地上との時間差との対応から、地上観測から示唆されていた大規模電流系の極方向の拡大が磁気圏にも共役的にみられることが観測から初めて確認された。この結果はEarth Planet Space誌に出版されている。次の段階としてみちびき衛星とETS-VIII衛星の経度一致性を利用した、同時観測イベントの統計解析を進めており、今後オーロラ嵐時における磁気圏内での緯度方向の磁場変動要因とその分布が明らかになることが期待される。
