Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2019年度においては、主に以下の①から④の研究活動を行った。
①ガーンディー自身と彼の側近・同時代人（M. デーサーイー、I. ヤーグニック等）の手によって書かれたグジャラーティー語（また、若干のヒンディー語）の既出版・未出版の文書と、グジャラート文学史の「中世（＝ナラシンハ時代）」から「近代（＝ガーンディー時代）」に至る宗教詩人・社会活動家の著述とを比較精読することで、後者が前者に与えた影響関係を分析した。これにより、ガーンディーが自身の宗教政治運動において使用していた主要なグジャラーティー語の諸概念を、いかなる英語・ヒンディー語の概念に「翻訳」していったか、同時に、近代西洋思想家の影響下に使用されていた諸概念をいかなるグジャラーティー語の「伝統」概念によって、翻訳（「想像/創造」）していったのかを明らかにした。
②2019年9には、グジャラート州アフマダーバード（アムダーヴァード）市にあるグジャラート文学協会のアーカイブス、グジャラート・ヴィッディヤーピートの図書館、また、同州ナディヤード市にあるA. S. ダヒーラクシュミー図書館を拠点に史料調査を行なった。
③本研究主題と関わるガーンディーのブラフマチャリヤ思想に関する研究論文を、イギリスのRoutledge出版社の査読誌である"Global Intellectual History"から刊行した。
④4月にイギリスのダラム大学（BASAS Conference）、7月にオランダのライデン大学（ICAS 11）、及び、 12月にイタリアのトリノ大学（“Gandhi After Gandhi”: Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi's 150th Birth Anniversary International Conference）で研究発表を行った。加えて、国内では9月と10月に二つの学会の全国大会で研究発表を行なった。
