Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究課題では，魅力知覚の視覚情報処理の認知神経科学的メカニズムを知覚心理学と神経科学の両面から検討することを目的としている。本年度は前年度の研究成果をもとに，以下2つの研究課題に取り組んだ。

研究1 (魅力を規定する顔特徴の計算モデル化に関する研究)：前年度までに行ってきた，顔魅力の無自覚的視覚情報処理に関する研究知見から，顔魅力をほとんど自動的に決定する顔特徴が存在することが明らかになってきた。そこで，本年度は，顔印象を規定する物理特徴の生物学的背景を検討するために，顔の性的二型性 (男性と女性の顔特徴の違い) とそれ以外の魅力規定要因の影響を独立に計算モデルにより推定した。その結果，従来指摘されてきたように，顔の性的二型性は魅力印象を規定する重要な要因ではあるが，それ以外の特徴要因の影響が非常に大きいことが明らかになった。こうした一連の研究成果については，日本認知心理学会第17回大会優秀発表賞を受賞した。加えて，その成果の一部は査読付き国際誌Royal Society Open Scienceに掲載された他，後続の研究成果を査読付き国際誌に現在投稿中である。

研究2 (顔の魅力の視覚情報処理の総括に関する研究)：本研究課題全体を通して得られた成果を最新の研究動向と照らし合わせ，顔の魅力と印象の認知を支える視覚情報処理メカニズムについての総括を行った。魅力を含む顔印象の知覚は自動的かつ無自覚的であること，顔貌による内面や性格の推測は必ずしも正確ではないこと，それにも関わらず，顔印象が社会的行動やステレオタイプに及ぼす影響が大きいこと，などを総説論文としてまとめ，現在査読付き国内誌において査読審査を受けている。また，国内外の学術会議のシンポジウムや特別講演において，本研究課題の成果を広く公表し，今後の研究の展望について論じた。
