超原子として見た金属クラスターの化学反応性に関する研究

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、貨幣金属クラスターの「超原子」としての電子構造に着目することで新たな化学反応を開拓していくことを目指し、以下の成果を得た。
(1) クラスターを調べていく上での基礎となる金原子(Au)を取り上げ、固体ネオン中でのヨウ化メチル(CH3I)との反応を調べた。赤外分光によって新規化学種[(CH3)2-Au-I2]を同定し、この化学種に可視光を照射することでC-Cホモカップリングが誘起されてエタン(C2H6)が生成することを見出した。
(2) 金クラスター負イオン(Aun(-)、n = 2-4)とCH3Iの気相反応を調べた。新規生成物AunI(-)の構造を負イオン光電子分光によって明らかにした。質量分析と擬1次反応速度解析に基づき、アルカリ金属に類似の開殻電子配置を持つAu2(-)が他のサイズと比べて顕著に高い反応性を示すことを見出した。その際、CH3IのI側から攻撃してI原子を引き抜くという実際のアルカリ金属と同様の機構で反応が進行することを、量子化学計算によって明らかにした。
(3) さらに大きなサイズの金クラスターの気相反応を調べるためにクラスター生成法の改良を行った。具体的に、湿式還元合成された金クラスターを前駆体として気相クラスターを生成するためのマトリックス支援レーザー脱離イオン化装置の立ち上げを行った。
