Outline of Annual Research Achievements

平成30年4月から9月末（長崎大学着任に伴う特別研究員辞退）までの半年間、バーゼル大学動物学研究所（スイス連邦）のDieter Ebert教授の研究室に滞在し、客員研究員として共同研究を実施した。Ebert教授は本研究課題の研究領域で世界をリードする研究者であり、彼と年次計画２年目の課題であるシミュレーション解析の方向性を打ち合わせた。同時に、打ち合わせた内容をシミュレーションモデルとして実装することで効率的に研究を推進することができた。まず当初の予定通り、ランダムな感染行列（相互作用）を1000個作成し、各々で再現される個体群動態を観察した。その際、どのような種間相互作用があるときに、何種のホストとパラサイトが生き残るかを記録した。これにより、ホストとパラサイトの共存種数と感染行列（相互作用）の関係を洗い出すことができる。特に大きな進展として、共存が成り立つときの相互作用の特性（NestednessとModularity）を計測し、この二つの指標（NestednessとModularity）から共存が成り立つ種間相互作用の条件が導かれた。具体的に言えば、シミュレーションの開始時から終了時に至るまでにNestednessは劇的に低下し、Modularityは分散（増加傾向）することで最終的な共存が固定されることが分かった。これにより遺伝的多様性の維持機構としての種間相互作用が実際にどのような構造を持つのかという問いに、ある程度の予測を提供できると考えている。特別研究員PDとしての役目を、計画時の半分（1年半）の期間で終えることとなったが、これまでの成果を無駄にすることなく、本研究課題は今後も継続して推進する予定である。
なお本年度の発表業績としては、感染現象に着目している点で本課題とも共通する性感染症の数理モデルの発表など、合計7報の原著論文発表と、4回の学会発表を行った。
