Outline of Annual Research Achievements

ハフニウム酸希土類 (RE2Hf2O7) およびアルカリ土類群 (AEHfO3) について単結晶の合成および評価を行った。まずRE2Hf2O7に着目して様々な発光中心元素の検討を行ったところ、酸化物シンチレータの発光中心として最も一般的なCeを添加したサンプルでは自己吸収により発光強度が低下した。また、TiやZrなどの同族元素置換はホスト由来の内在発光を増加させることが確認でき、Prなどの4f-4f遷移由来発光を利用した場合にも良好な発光特性が得られた。AEHfO3に着目して検討を進めたところ、RE2Hf2O7の場合と異なりCe添加によって発光特性は大きく改善した。Ti添加品もまた良好なシンチレーション特性が得られ、波高分布解析により定量的な値を算出した。本研究では従来のBGO (Bi4Ge3O12) シンチレータよりも短い蛍光寿命、高い密度を有するいくつかの有用な材料の開発に成功したが、残光特性は従来の酸化物と比べると劣るため今後の改善が求められる。
