Outline of Annual Research Achievements

当研究課題の目的は、連星進化理論の検証と、降着円盤不安定性の物理機構の解明である。国際協力による可視測光観測により、矮新星アウトバーストを詳細に観測することで研究を進める。観測対象としては、特に発見数・観測数が非常に少ないことで知られるヘリウム激変星に力を入れ、これまで知られていなかった現象や進化経路の解明を目指す。2018年度の研究実績は以下の通りである。
(1) 2018年4月にリリースされたGaia Data Release 2を使い、機械学習的な手法を用いて矮新星のサブタイプ分類法を開発した。Gaiaはこれまでにない精度で13.8億天体の距離を測定している。これにより、多くの矮新星の絶対等級が得られるようになった。今回開発した手法を使えば、新たな天体が発見され次第、Gaiaのカタログ値を見るだけで矮新星の増光タイプ(SU UMa型/WZ Sge型)を判定することが出来る。以上の結果を主著としてまとめ、論文化した。
(2) 前年度に観測したヘリウム矮新星候補の天体、NSV 1440の膨大なデータを解析し、論文化した。本研究により、ヘリウム激変星でも通常の(水素が豊富な)激変星と同様に「WZ Sge型」と呼ばれるアウトバーストを示すことを、世界で初めて明らかにした。これは、WZ Sge型アウトバーストが、ブラックホール連星などの他の連星系でも発生することを示唆している。WZ Sge型アウトバーストの連続測光観測から軌道周期・連星質量比を求めることが出来るため、本研究はヘリウム激変星のみならず、降着円盤を持つあらゆる連星系に波及する結果である。
(3) その他、多くの激変星の観測を行った。それらについて順次、主著または共著の形で論文化していく予定である。
