Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は、飼育幼生サンゴ骨格・無機炭酸塩合成と自然環境下で生息しているサンゴ骨格の凝集同位体比であるΔ47を利用して新規淡水流入量代替指標の開発を行うこと、開発した淡水流入量換算式は人為的な栄養塩流出がサンゴに与えてきた影響を明らかにする研究に応用すること、である。 これらの目的を達成するためには、量子カスケードレーザー赤外差分吸収分光計を用いた炭酸塩のΔ47計測手法確立と、海水温・降水量が記録されている海域でのサンゴ試料採取が必要であった。
R1年度は、1)サンゴ骨格と合成した無機炭酸塩のΔ47を、量子カスケードレーザー赤外差分吸収分光計を用いて計測するための手法開発、 2)酸素同位体比の計測及びP/Ca計測手法の検討、3)本研究でこれまでに行った研究成果のまとめと発表、を行った。量子カスケードレーザー赤外差分吸収分光計では、Δ47の計測に最適なレーザー波長を決定した。また今後円滑に多数の試料のΔ47を測定するためのオートサンプラーと計測プロトコルの最適化を行った。前年度に引き続き、Δ47を計測する前に必要なサンゴ骨格の酸素同位体比計測とICP-MSを用いたサンゴ骨格中P/Ca計測手法の検討を行った。 本研究では、沖縄本島とトカラ列島で採取した現生と中期完新世の化石サンゴの酸素同位体比の計測から、中期完新世の黒潮塩分が高かった可能性を示唆する結果を得た。また海水温や降水量の記録が豊富な石垣島で採取したサンゴ骨格の酸素同位体比計測を行い、それらが季節変動を捉えていることを明らかにした。これらの研究成果の一部は国内・国際学会で発表を行い、さらに国際誌に投稿した。
