Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本申請の目的は、炭酸カルシウム殻をもつさまざまな現生・化石個体に応用しうる、炭素・酸素安定同位体比を活用した新たな環境・生態指標を確立することである。具体的には、（１）炭素同位体比を用いた代謝指標の評価、(2)絶対温度指標（Δ47）の微量化による水温復元の高解像度化、さらに(3)微小領域解析による高時間分解能の環境指標の確立を行うことを目指す。本研究は、環境解析に用いられる生物源炭酸塩において、これまで十分に活用されてこなかった同位体指標から新規の環境・生態情報を引き出すことで、古環境指標の高精度化・汎用化を達成する。さらに生態指標を活用することで、将来に予測される環境変化への生物影響評価や、生理代謝に関わる古生物進化の理解への貢献が大いに期待できる先駆的研究である。
本年度の取り組みとして、（１）では、野外採取もしくは飼育実験によって得られた魚類耳石や貝類殻を用い、炭素安定同位体比による代謝指標の評価を行った。飼育実験を行ったマイワシ仔魚の炭素同位体比より、成長段階によって炭素同位体比に温度依存性がみられる時期とみられない時期があることが分かった。個体成長に伴って、周囲の温度変化に伴う代謝の変化が炭素同位体比に顕著に表れるようになることが予想される。（２）では、チューリッヒ工科大学(スイス)と分析技術に関して情報交換を行い、茨城高専でのΔ47同位体比分析システムに分析技術や補正法を生かすことができた。さらに、水温・ｐH飼育実験を実施した貝類のΔ47分析を行い、二枚貝類の殻の炭酸凝集同位体比は温度計として有効であることを明らかにした。また、（３）では、大気海洋研にて貝類試料の微量元素分析を行い、微細構造観察結果と組み合わせながら、二枚貝類の殻の元素による環境指標の評価やバイオミネラリゼーションに係る研究を行った。
