Outline of Final Research Achievements

Air stimulator device had refined which are able to contain wet air stream and control temperature of air. Using piezoelectric device, we had succeeded to increase effectiveness of air stimulator. To measure 3D air stream field, we had developed measurement system using ultra sonic devices.
As results participation evaluation experiment using air stimulator, comparing air stream from stimulator to ordinary electric fan, subject under examination felt cold sense. In addition, we had clarified subject which has highly sensitive tactile perception feels highly sensitive air sense.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究プロジェクトで開発された空気流発生装置は,空気の塊を遠くに飛ばせる機能を有する.現行では飛ばす空気の温度・湿度のコントロールが可能になりつつあり,これを応用すれば香りなどを含んだ空気も飛ばせることになる.したがって,エンターテイメントにおける刺激発生装置に応用できる.本システムによる空気流刺激は,一般的な扇風機にくらべて被験者に冷感を伴わせたことから,エアコンの風力発生部や送風扇にも応用できる.
以上より,本研究は「空気覚」という新たな感覚の特性を明らかにし,エンターテイメントや市販のシステムに応用できる可能性を示唆できた.
