Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study aims to clarify the relationship between fields in scientific linkages, while shedding light on problems that can arise when identifying cited papers. The bibliographic information of non-patent citations is often inconsistent and incomplete. Typical cases are as follows. (1) Missing a part of bibliographic information: e.g., the journal name or the article title is not described. (2) Fluctuation of description: e.g., the journal name is abbreviated, or alphabets are transliterated into katakana characters. In addition, many typographical errors were observed. Thus, there were many cases in which we could not find relevant bibliographic records in the databases. The number of cited categories exceeded 60 in human necessities, chemistry; metallurgy, and electricity, that is to say, patents of these sections were citing articles from a wide range of fields. As for electricity, however, Gini’s index was high, that is, citations were relatively concentrated in specific fields.
